19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term coach his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually improved in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title following the Rome competition and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.
Success also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at 21 various competitions.
"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.
But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his initial tour championship, took control to create a final set.
Moutet defended four early chances in a tight third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
